We wake up early. Make a pot of coffee and sit on the garden deck — or head to the bigger deck, to watch the day take shape over the Lagoa.
We sit and talk, unhurried. About everything: business, life, and there's always that moment of checking the wind and swell forecast, to decide the rest of the day and plan the week. Somewhere in the middle of all that talk, we put together a good breakfast — with eggs from our own happy hens, usually a cheese crepioca or a banana-and-chocolate one (it reminds us of the breakfasts we have in Jeri).
After breakfast, depending on the forecast, we get our gear ready to sail, if the wind is right, or head to the Casinha to check the ocean conditions. What matters is doing something that nourishes body, mind and soul, and that keeps us in touch with nature — whether it's sailing, surfing, paddling on the Lagoa, a hike, or a walk out to Joaquina or the dunes.
We believe Floripa — Lagoa da Conceição especially — is more than the perfect backdrop for a good quality of life. It's, for us, the origin that made us understand how to find balance, and the very reason Lagoa Branca exists.
These past few years, we've watched the wellness market grow a lot, and we think that's genuinely important. But we've noticed that a lot of what's out there feels a little illusory, and disconnected from people's real lives. Our own life paths taught us that the true meaning of wellbeing is being able to build a life, and a daily routine, genuinely oriented around balance.
Let us explain: most of us have to work. If you find real pleasure in your work, that's already a good thing — but if you don't, it can still be something manageable, as long as you balance the moments of focus and effort with moments of release and pleasure. And that shouldn't only happen on vacation — it should be spread through the small moments of everyday life: breakfast with the people you love, an evening walk, the sail you managed to fit into your schedule.
The thing is, we often can't exercise that flexibility, and work ends up taking over every moment, steering most of our decisions. And sometimes, even when we do manage it, there's this odd, misplaced guilt for "not being productive" every second.
Floripa isn't the best city in Brazil for sailors, surfers, or paddlers. But it's, without a doubt, the best city for anyone who wants to practice that kind of balance in life. It will always offer you, somewhere in your day, at least one moment of contact with nature — and that, we believe, is the very core of real wellbeing.
That's why, at Lagoa Branca, nature sets the pace. With a bit of flexibility, and being somewhere immersed in nature, it gets easier to find the balance between your responsibilities and your genuine wants. No drama over having obligations — but no guilt either for enjoying moments of pleasure, fun, and contemplation. The point is understanding that both belong to life, and that maybe it's that very duality that makes a life whole.
