Lagoa Branca is made of people.
This weekend, we hosted the first birthday of the son of a dear friend, a kitesurfer, who booked Loft 1 to celebrate with friends and family. We were so happy to share in other people's joy that it got us thinking.
In these 10 months, Lagoa Branca has been the setting for a few honeymoons, bridal days, wedding anniversaries, birthday celebrations (two friends came to celebrate their 40th!) and someone who came to tell her husband she was pregnant.
We also welcomed people who needed a few days to think about the future, who came to reflect while changing careers, and people moving to the city who stayed with us on a long stay until they found an apartment.
Many become a different kind of friend: even without really knowing them, and sometimes without much conversation, we keep following them from afar.
And each one leaves a little of themselves. Rafael and Tomás suggested serving dishes and jars, and we provided them. Karina asked for a sheer curtain on the Loft 2 window, and there it is. We saw Marina doing yoga on the grass and put out mats. The clotheslines came from a suggestion by Helena.
Beyond these big occasions, we know that all the small moments of presence matter!
What people take from us, and what they leave here, is what builds who we are.
The names mentioned are fictional, to protect the privacy of those who stayed with us.
